The Cabinet Approves a Market Regulation Plan and Strengthens Oversight Measures in Preparation for Ramadan

SadaNews - During the weekly Cabinet meeting today, Tuesday, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa briefed council members on the developments in communications and the political and diplomatic efforts led by the president and the government to support our people's rights to freedom and independence and to end the occupation. He emphasized cooperation with various parties aiming to support relief and recovery efforts for the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, including the resumption of work at the Rafah crossing in light of previous international understandings.

In this context, the Cabinet called for international intervention and more effective measures to stop the terrorist attacks by settlers, which amounted to 1,872 assaults in January alone, according to data from the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission. This included forced displacement of 125 families from three Bedouin communities, the largest being the al-Auja waterfall community, in addition to the occupation's efforts to establish nine new colonial outposts, studying 21 structural plans for settlements, seizing 744 dunams of land, demolishing 126 structures, and issuing alerts to demolish 40 others.

In another context, the Cabinet adopted a market regulation plan for the month of Ramadan, directing various competent authorities to intensify oversight inspections on markets to protect citizens from spoiled or non-compliant goods and to ensure the application of mandatory technical instructions.

Additionally, the Cabinet tasked the Ministries of National Economy and Agriculture with preparing a plan to establish a national food reserve system in the State of Palestine in partnership with the private sector, in light of recommendations from the Permanent Ministerial Economic Development Committee.

The Cabinet also discussed proposals concerning the draft law on public-private partnerships, which will be submitted to government departments for review and comments, and presented on the legislation platform of the Ministry of Justice.

The Cabinet reviewed the first reading of the draft law on insolvency, which represents a legal framework addressing financial distress and bankruptcy according to international standards, ensuring the protection of creditors' rights and organizing payment priorities to achieve justice and balance, enabling debtors to restructure their businesses and financial plans to avoid liquidation as much as possible. The law also pays attention to the humanitarian and social aspects of those in distress.

The Cabinet tasked the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs with preparing a specific work program to enhance the resilience of Jerusalemites in the city and its suburbs in light of the Israeli measures and daily assaults they face, to be presented to the Cabinet for discussion and implementation.

The Cabinet approved the purchase of medicines and laboratory materials for the Ministry of Health, especially to meet the urgent need for diagnostic tests for bacteria.

As part of the government's procedures to support national products, the Cabinet approved the recommendations of the Ministry of Health to give preference to local pharmaceutical products in government tenders, in accordance with applicable regulations and instructions.

The Cabinet approved the recommendations of the technical committees regarding the reservation of accommodation and transportation arrangements for pilgrims.
