Occupation Forces a Jerusalemite to Demolish His Home in Silwan
SadaNews - The Israeli occupation authorities forced a citizen today, Saturday, to demolish his home in the town of Silwan in occupied Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the occupation authorities compelled Jerusalemite citizen Muhammad Atiyah Al-Razem to demolish his home forcibly in the Wadi Qaddoum neighborhood of Silwan, under the pretext of building without a permit, noting that the house has been standing for 26 years and covers an area of about 160 square meters.
It is worth mentioning that the occupation authorities compel Palestinian citizens, especially in occupied Jerusalem, to demolish their homes themselves under the pretext of lacking permits, and those who refuse this action face the demolition of their homes by the occupation's bulldozers, along with significant costs imposed on the owner.
The occupation municipality in Jerusalem refuses to grant Palestinians building permits and demolishes or forces them to demolish their homes, in a procedure that contradicts international laws and humanitarian treaties that保障 the right to housing, as part of the systematic practices of the occupation aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians from the city of Jerusalem, in exchange for expanding the settlements in the city and its surroundings.
