The National Committee for Gaza Management Announces the Beginning of Experimental Operation of Rafah Crossing in Both Directions
SadaNews - The National Committee for Gaza Management has announced the opening of the Rafah crossing and the commencement of its experimental operation in both directions, in a step considered a significant milestone in the efforts aimed at organizing movement and alleviating the humanitarian burdens on the residents of the Gaza Strip, aligning with the committee's responsibilities in managing and organizing transit affairs.
The committee clarified that the operation of the crossing comes after completing the necessary operational and organizational arrangements, ensuring an organized and safe crossing, while adhering to the highest standards of safety, security, and order, and preserving the dignity of citizens entering and leaving. The opening of the crossing is expected to provide a vital outlet for humanitarian cases, particularly for patients and wounded individuals needing medical transfers abroad, in addition to students, family reunification, and other groups with humanitarian needs.
Dr. Ali Shath, the head of the National Committee for Gaza Management, said: "This step is not just an administrative procedure but represents the beginning of a long journey to reconnect what has been severed and to open a real window of hope for our people in the Gaza Strip," pointing out that the operation of the crossing exemplifies a collaborative achievement with the participation of partners committed to facilitating transit as a fundamental element of the twenty-point plan launched by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
He added, "We are working diligently and resolutely, in cooperation with mediators, the Palestinian National Authority, and the Peace Council led by President Donald Trump, so that this step becomes an entry point for broader arrangements for stability, restoring essential services, and paving the way for relief, recovery, and reconstruction."
Shath confirmed that mechanisms for registration, criteria for priorities, and travel schedules will be announced through the officially approved channels, ensuring transparency, organization, and equal opportunities among citizens.
He also praised the exceptional and responsible role played by the Arab Republic of Egypt, its leadership, and its people, especially President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in opening the Rafah crossing in both directions, while also thanking the mediators who contributed to the success of this path.
It is worth noting that the National Committee for Gaza Management is the technical body responsible for restoring essential services and infrastructure and leading the reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip.
