Intensive Care Unit at Al-Mawasi Hospital: From Idea to Achievement by Palestinian Red Crescent Hands
SadaNews - The lens of the Palestinian Red Crescent documents the stages of establishing the intensive care unit within the Al-Mawasi field hospital west of Khan Younis, which was fully accomplished by the hands of the Red Crescent teams, from the idea to implementation, despite the scarcity of resources and the suffocating blockade conditions.
The project was executed under the guidance of the Association's President, Dr. Younis Al-Khatib, in urgent response to the increasing medical needs in the region. The unit now comprises 6 intensive care beds (4 high-care beds equipped with ventilators, and 2 for intermediate care), serving thousands of displaced people and the wounded.
Engineer Majdi Darwish, Director of Financial and Administrative Affairs and supervisor of the department's implementation, says:
"We were able, solely with the hands of the Red Crescent teams, to design and build an integrated unit despite the lack of equipment and external support, because people's lives cannot afford to wait."
