Qatar Establishes First Aid Point at Hamad Hospital in Gaza to Treat Injured Aid Recipients

SadaNews - The State of Qatar has established a first aid point at the Prince Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics in Gaza, funded by the Qatar Development Fund, to treat emergency cases in North Gaza and the injured awaiting aid.

The medical point, which hundreds flock to, aims for rapid response to treat injuries with the help of a specialized medical and nursing staff to serve the wounded, provide available treatments, and refer certain cases to health ministry hospitals in Gaza and other hospitals using ambulances from the health ministry, the Palestinian Red Crescent, and medical services.

The number of injured individuals who received emergency services in recent weeks has reached approximately 2,538, while the hospital welcomed nearly 220 martyrs, including 1,227 injured and 119 martyrs in just the last week.

Fahd bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Director General of the Qatar Development Fund and Chairman of the Hospital Board, stated: "Based on the fund's commitment to humanitarian work and the feeling of responsibility towards our brothers in Gaza, we continue to support the hospital of His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics in Gaza to ensure that care is provided to those in need in the most difficult circumstances."

Al-Sulaiti also renewed his call for the international community to take a firm stance that allows for immediate and safe delivery of aid and ensures the protection of civilians and humanitarian service providers.

He added: "What Gaza is experiencing in terms of serious escalation and direct targeting of civilians imposes a moral and humanitarian responsibility on the international community that cannot be postponed. Systematic starvation, lack of medical resources, and ongoing aggression are all crimes that exacerbate the suffering of innocents and must stop immediately. Humanitarian aid is not a lever of pressure, and it should not be used as a weapon against the vulnerable."

The Director General of Hamad Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Naim, said: "The establishment of the first aid and emergency point comes as part of the hospital's humanitarian duty in light of the dilapidated and weakened health system in Gaza due to the systematic targeting of hospitals, alongside the deterioration of the situation in the northern area near the hospital, which witnesses the daily influx of many injured individuals from those awaiting aid."

He added: "The responsibility is immense and requires the cooperation of all international and local medical institutions to alleviate the suffering of these wounded individuals by providing the medical point with the necessary needs and supplies in light of the shortage of medical resources due to the imposed blockade on the sector and the occupation's prevention of the entry of life-saving materials used in treating the wounded."

The establishment of this medical point comes alongside the hospital's provision of its basic services to hundreds of wounded individuals and those with various disabilities through the hospital's three main departments (prosthetics - medical rehabilitation - audiology and balance) and CT imaging services, which is the only one in North Gaza.
