Helsingborg Sends Its Message to the World: Stop the Genocide and Starvation in Gaza

SadaNews - Popular activities in the city of Helsingborg organized a massive public demonstration on Saturday, marching through the main streets in support of the resilience of the Palestinian people and in condemnation of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Participants raised Palestinian flags alongside banners calling for the immediate cessation of the massacres and the brutal war of starvation being perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces, with full support from the United States, against civilians, including children, women, and the elderly in Gaza.

Demonstrators called on the international community, humanitarian organizations, and human rights organizations to bear their moral and legal responsibilities by ensuring the delivery of adequate quantities of food, water, medicine, and fuel to the besieged Gaza Strip.

The protesters carried blood-stained dolls and pictures of children who lost their lives in the Israeli attacks, alongside images documenting the comprehensive destruction inflicted on residential buildings and hospitals in Gaza, in a scene that reflects the scale of the ongoing tragedy and suffering.

The demonstrators also expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people and their heroic resistance against attempts by the occupation to eliminate the Palestinian cause, particularly through the plan to displace the residents of Gaza to host countries, in a desperate attempt to recreate the Nakba scenario of 1948, and to expand settlements in the West Bank, undermining any possibility of an independent Palestinian state.

For his part, the president of the Swedish-Palestinian Center, Mr. Ahmed Suleiman, affirmed that what is happening in Gaza constitutes a defined crime of genocide, occurring in the sight and hearing of the world, calling for the international community to take concrete actions that go beyond statements of condemnation. He emphasized the need for the continued popular movement and the expansion of support for the Palestinian cause in the European street, leading to actual pressure on governments to take ethical and legal positions that put an end to Israeli aggression and support the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people for freedom and dignity.

At the conclusion of the demonstration, comrade Umihana Razović delivered a speech on behalf of the Left Party, in which she saluted the Palestinian people and their just struggle for freedom and independence, strongly condemning the brutal massacres and war of starvation led by Israel against civilians in Gaza.

Razović demanded that the Swedish government urgently intervene to stop the genocide, and called for the boycotting and penalizing of the occupying state for the crimes it commits. She also emphasized the importance of escalating the popular movement in the street, to gain more public support and pressure decision-makers to take clear positions condemning aggression and championing the rights of the Palestinian people.
