Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Israeli reactions to the recognition of the State of Palestine are hostile to peace
SadaNews - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates deemed the Israeli reactions issued by several officials shortly after the French decision to recognize the State of Palestine as "hostile to peace" and rejection of political and negotiation solutions to the conflict.
The ministry clarified in a statement issued today, Sunday, that these reactions keep the door open for the continuation of the cycle of violence, wars, and tensions in the region, and at the same time reflect an Israeli insistence on denying the legitimate and just national rights of the Palestinian people, as stated in United Nations resolutions, which enjoy international consensus.
It added: What is happening is a translation of colonial expansionist schemes coinciding with an official Israeli policy aimed at deepening the crimes of genocide, starvation, displacement, and annexation committed by the occupation government daily, as clearly seen in the Gaza Strip, and in the occupied West Bank including East Jerusalem, along with all unilateral illegal occupation measures aimed at undermining the opportunity to realize the Palestinian state on the ground, foremost among which are the ongoing Israeli decisions regarding deepening the crime of ethnic cleansing and annexation.
The ministry reaffirmed that the recognition of states of the State of Palestine is a political and legal entitlement and obligation consistent with international law and international legitimacy and the principle of the two-state solution, and a victory for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the land of their forefathers and their adherence to their right to self-determination and their constant aspiration for freedom and independence.
It emphasized that these recognitions and the regional and international efforts made to succeed in the UN conference in New York and realize the State of Palestine on the ground bring peace, stability, and prosperity to the peoples and countries of the region and the world.
It pointed out that it continues to make further efforts with the states that are still hesitant or considering taking the step of recognition, and calls on all countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to side with international law, away from any narrow political calculations.
