Arab Leaders in the Occupied Territories Begin Hunger Strike Rejecting the War of Genocide and Starvation in Gaza

SadaNews - Arab leaders in the country are initiating a hunger strike starting today, Sunday, for three days against the war of genocide and starvation in the Gaza Strip.

In this context, the chairman of the Higher Follow-Up Committee for Arab citizens, Mohammed Barakeh, sent a message to organizations and associations of Palestinian communities around the world, explaining to them the hunger strike of the Palestinian leaders in the interior (the 48 territories) that begins today, Sunday, for three days, against the war of genocide, starvation, and displacement. He called on them to initiate political activities around this strike, and he received positive responses from several of these organizations, with responses still coming in.

Barakeh said in his message, "The Higher Follow-Up Committee has called upon our leaders in the interior to go on a hunger strike to shed light on the terrible catastrophe that our people in Gaza are facing from the criminal Israeli occupation."

He added, "The scenes of death by starvation in Gaza should provoke and mobilize everyone who has an ounce of belonging to humanity."

The head of the Follow-Up Committee indicated, "We decided that the strike will last, in the first phase and depending on developments on the ground, for three days starting on Sunday, July 27, 2025, and ending on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, with a demonstration in front of the American embassy in Tel Aviv. The center of the hunger strike will be in the city of Jaffa, the bride of Palestine."

The message continued, "The practices of occupation, daily killings, displacement, and the annihilation of all the components of life in the Gaza Strip, along with the dangerous exacerbation of the horrific starvation policy, require wide mobilization in all parts of the world to muster global public opinion and pressure governments to work on stopping the criminal starvation and halting the war and its consequences."

Barakeh appealed to the communities, "to raise their voices against starvation, displacement, and genocide, and to join this initiative through organizing political activities, each in their own position, and to work on mobilizing various sectors of the societies in which they live, to raise their voices for the sake of saving our people in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank."

He concluded by writing, "We have great hope that this call will find receptive ears, and that various capitals around the world will witness activities that elevate the voice of the horrific suffering and work to stop it immediately."
