Death of Kifah Hanawi Following a Shooting Incident
SadaNews - The medical staff at "Asaf Harofeh" Hospital announced today, Thursday, the death of Kifah Hanawi (52 years old) from the city of Lod, due to severe injuries she sustained in a shooting incident about two weeks ago.
Kifah had been transferred to the hospital in critical condition after being shot inside the home of her sister-in-law, Nadia Hanawi (63 years old), who also lost her life in the same incident.
Since her injury, Kifah remained unconscious in the intensive care unit until doctors announced her death this morning.
Relatives of the victim stated that they had hoped for her recovery, and one family member mentioned: "We prayed for her recovery day and night, but she did not regain consciousness. She was a kind, loving woman who sacrificed a lot for her family and was killed in cold blood. We still do not know who the perpetrator is, and we demand the truth be revealed and justice served."
It is noteworthy that after the double murder, the police announced the arrest of 5 suspects from the city involved in the crime.
It should be remembered that the victim's husband, Nadia Hanawi, was killed in a crime committed four years ago.
This crime continues the bloody cycle of violence that plagues the city of Lod and the Arab community in general, amid a clear absence of deterrence and ongoing shortcomings by the Israeli police in pursuing the perpetrators.
146 Arab Victims Since the Beginning of the Year
This comes amid a rise in crime in the Arab community, coupled with the Israeli police's neglect, which borders on complicity with criminal organizations, and the absence of government plans to combat crime.
With this crime, the death toll from murders in the Arab community has risen to 146 victims, including 12 women and a young man from Jerusalem.
It has emerged that 124 of the victims were killed by gunfire, 73 of whom were under the age of thirty, including 3 who were killed before reaching the age of 18, while 9 were killed by the police.
This year has also recorded a 12% increase in the number of violence victims compared to the same period last year, when the number of victims was 128.
The year 2024 has witnessed the deaths of 221 people in the Arab community, compared to 222 murders recorded in 2023.
