Organization of Islamic Cooperation Holds Emergency Meeting to Discuss Israeli Aggression and Developments in Palestine

SadaNews - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation will hold an emergency meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, at the request of the State of Palestine, for the Executive Committee at the level of permanent representatives, with the participation of the organization's Secretary-General, who will deliver a speech during the meeting, to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the targeting of holy sites in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Hebron.

The ambassador Hadi Shibli, the permanent representative of the State of Palestine to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, requested the meeting based on the instructions of the Palestinian presidency, and he will deliver a speech on behalf of the Palestinian state.

The meeting aims to discuss mechanisms for Islamic and international action to stop the aggression, and to coordinate political and diplomatic efforts to defend the rights of the Palestinian people, and confront the repeated violations of the sanctity of Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.

A joint statement is expected to be issued from the meeting, including mechanisms and steps to address the genocidal war and starvation being inflicted by the Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the fragmentation of the West Bank through increased settlement activities, confiscation of Palestinian lands, and the judaization of holy sites, particularly the plans and practices against the Ibrahimi Mosque, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the assaults on churches and the brutal attacks carried out by settler gangs with the support and protection of the Israeli occupation government.

This meeting comes amid an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, resulting from the ongoing crimes of genocide, starvation, and forced displacement committed by the Israeli occupation, alongside the escalation of assaults on Islamic and Christian places of worship, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law.
