Israeli Government Coalition Fails to Oust Ayman Odeh from the Knesset
SadaNews Translation - The attempts of the Israeli government coalition, on Monday evening, to oust and remove Knesset member Ayman Odeh from his position have failed.
Seventy-three members voted in favor of Odeh's removal, while fifteen voted against it.
According to the Knesset's applicable laws, 90 members must vote in favor of the motion to form a majority.
According to the Hebrew Channel Reshet Kan, as translated by SadaNews, members from the ultra-Orthodox Yahadut HaTorah, as well as from Blue and White, and Yesh Atid, were absent from the vote.
Odeh stated in a speech to the Knesset plenum that he would never back down from any word he had said previously.
The parliamentary committee in the Knesset approved his ousting and referred the voting process to the plenum.
This is due to allegations of incitement after he posted on his social media pages a tweet expressing his happiness with the exchange deals that took place with Hamas, and called for the liberation of both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples from occupation.
During the Knesset session this evening, some members of the far-right, including Itamar Ben Gvir, were expelled from the hall for disrupting Odeh's speech.
