Jerusalem Governorate: Extremist Glick Storms Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound, Breaching All Restrictions
SadaNews - The Jerusalem Governorate reported that extremist former Knesset member Yehuda Glick stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound today, Tuesday, in a dangerous precedent, providing Talmudic explanations to a delegation accompanying him.
The Governorate added in a statement this evening that Glick is considered one of the most prominent symbols of religious extremism in the occupying state, and one of the staunchest defenders of the alleged "Temple Mount" narrative, as he demands the imposition of Jewish sovereignty over the Al-Aqsa Mosque and regularly participates in incitement campaigns to storm it and perform biblical rituals inside.
It clarified that this storming coincided with a clear escalation witnessed in the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque since the beginning of July, as the first five days of the month documented the organization of six public wedding rituals for Zionist grooms inside the mosque – including two brides – which involved singing, clapping, and group dancing, under the protection of the occupying police, and with the green light from extremist National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who issued instructions allowing stormers to hold their celebrations throughout the mosque, not just in the eastern part as previously practiced.
The Jerusalem Governorate emphasized that footage from the past few days showed a dangerous progression in the path of settler storming, as they ascended additional steps from the western arcade, and raised their voices near the Rock of Al-Aqsa, after a gradual process that began with them standing at the Qaitbay fountain and drinking from it, after they used to pass quickly towards the Chain Gate without stopping.
It indicated that the occupation closed the Mughrabi Gate in the morning and evening following the storming of 208 settlers, in addition to 100 others under the pretext of "tourism," stressing that the number of settlers who stormed Al-Aqsa since the beginning of 2025 has reached approximately 33,634 stormers, in a serious escalation in terms of numbers and patterns.
The Jerusalem Governorate pointed out that this year witnessed the implementation of unprecedented rituals inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque, including bringing in an "animal sacrifice" intended for slaughter, and bringing contaminated meat close to the Dome of the Rock. The vigilance of the Al-Aqsa Mosque guards prevented this, as did raising the occupation flag in the courtyards, and organizing various religious celebrations. Recently, it documented a settler stealing a plant from inside the mosque and distributing it to the stormers, without any interference from the occupation police.
The Governorate also reported that one of the extremist "Temple" groups announced a storming program that will last throughout July, which includes the entry of 12 rabbis, alongside heads of Jewish religious institutions.
The Jerusalem Governorate warned that the intensification of storming and the gathering of such a large number of rabbis and their followers in a short period heralds a wider aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with the approach of the so-called "Anniversary of the Destruction of the Temple" at the beginning of August, an occasion exploited by extremist religious groups to intensify their targeting of the blessed mosque.
