Jafra - The Student Assembly Holds Its Summary Meeting and Prepares for the Upcoming Academic Year
SadaNews - The Student Department of the National Democratic Assembly (Jafra Student Movement) held its annual summary meeting yesterday, Saturday, at the party's central office in Haifa, with the participation of representatives from various branches of universities and colleges in the occupied territories.
The meeting included a comprehensive review of the results of the academic year 2024–2025 and outlined the action plan for the upcoming academic year, amid the rising campaigns of incitement and persecution against Palestinian students within Israeli universities, and the narrowing of the political and national space in the academic campus.
The meeting was opened by Wisam Ali Saleh, a member of the central committee and head of the student department, who presented a comprehensive report on the activities of active student blocs in various universities, emphasizing that "this meeting is a fruit of the efforts of the student cadres in Jafra - the democratic student assembly, which has achieved significant accomplishments despite the restrictions and attempts to undermine student work," stressing the "importance of investing in these promising youth energies".
In his intervention, Deputy Secretary-General of the Assembly, Wasef Tatar, confirmed that "the student movement is the lifeblood of the Assembly's project and the national movement, providing hope for a leadership generation that carries the national and democratic project and leads our community towards progress by confronting crime and violence, and building a successful academic entrepreneurial generation that stands out in serving its people and community".
As for Youssef Taha, a member of the Political Bureau and responsible for youth and student affairs, he stressed in his intervention the "magnitude of responsibility on the shoulders of the new generation and the student movement in light of the grave challenges facing our people".
He also thanked the cadres of Jafra and the student assembly for their achievements in qualitative projects and programs throughout the year, confirming that "the coming year will be full of achievements thanks to these tremendous energies in our student cadres spread across the country".
This was followed by a discussion of a preliminary draft of the goal and vision of Jafra - the student assembly for the next year, with the participation of branch representatives, where organizational needs were raised, and the general structure of national student work was discussed, "as a step to confront the rising repression against our students, and the complicity of some academic institutions with the war policies against Gaza".
Attendees agreed that "the student organization has become, today, a national necessity to protect existence, not just an option, reflecting the pulse of youth, articulating their issues, and rising to meet the political moment".
At the end of the meeting, the student department of the assembly called for the "importance of succeeding in the 23rd University Students Forum, scheduled to be held in early October 2025, as a strategic station that brings together Jafra cadres from various branches, to enhance collective thinking, build political visions, and strengthen the relationship with academics, researchers, and activists in the political field, and empower cadres intellectually and culturally".
