Continued Demolition of Homes in the Unrecognized Village of Al-Sar in the Negev: 27 Homes Destroyed
SadaNews - Yesterday, Saturday, self-demolition operations continued in the unrecognized village of Al-Sar in the Negev region, southern Israel, in implementation of demolition orders issued by Israeli authorities against 27 homes belonging to the Ibn Mari and Abu Ramsha families.
The Director General of the Regional Council for Unrecognized Villages, Suleiman Al-Hawashla, stated that "the self-demolition operations came as a less harmful measure for the residents compared to forced demolition by the Israeli authorities, following the issuance of orders to demolish the homes."
He continued, stating that "with the demolition of more than 16 homes by the authorities in the village of Al-Sar, which is home to about 1,500 citizens, during May, there were some understandings to temporarily halt the demolition operations; however, as of now, no agreement has been reached."
Al-Hawashla concluded his remarks by saying, "This evening, we will hold a meeting with the residents of Al-Sar to discuss the latest developments, as demolition operations have become a daily occurrence in the Negev, and tens of thousands are suffering from the government's escalation policy."
