America and Iran: "Positive Progress" in Doha Talks
SadaNews - The United States announced that the talks held by its envoys in Doha regarding Iran have seen positive progress, confirming the continuation of technical negotiations with Tehran.
Bloomberg reported that a U.S. official said that President Biden's special envoy, Steve Biegun, and Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law, conducted "positive discussions with regional leaders" in Doha.
The same spokesperson added that technical communications between the United States and Iran remain ongoing within efforts aimed at reaching understandings regarding a ceasefire.
In this context, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held a meeting with Biegun and Kushner, discussing the ongoing negotiations under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States regarding a ceasefire.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry added that the two sides also discussed developments in the Middle East, with particular attention given to the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, and exchanged views on ways to support stability in the region.
For his part, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance warned that negotiations with Iran are still in their early stages and that the U.S. administration has many tools of pressure that it has not yet used to ensure outcomes favoring Washington.
Vance urged caution in interpreting developments, pointing out that there are attempts from various parties to simplify the situation.
