Palestinian Businessmen Association-Jerusalem Participates in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum SPIEF 2026
SadaNews Economy - The association participated in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2026), one of the most important and largest economic and investment forums globally, which is considered a high-level international platform that annually gathers leaders of states, governments, decision-makers in the economy, and major companies and financial and investment institutions from various countries to discuss the future of the global economy and international investment and trade trends.
The association's participation came in response to an official invitation from the Roscongress Foundation, the association's strategic partner in Russia, which has close institutional cooperation ties with the association, culminating in the establishment of the Joint Palestinian-Russian Business Council in 2022, as part of efforts to develop economic, commercial, and investment relations between Palestine and Russia.
Representing the association at this global economic event was Mr. Raed Salama, the association's Secretary-General, along with Dr. Jamal Ajaj, a Palestinian businessman residing in Russia. They participated in the forum's sessions, including the general session, which was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, discussing the most significant challenges and transitions in the global economy, the future of the international economic system, multilateral economic cooperation, as well as investment issues, food security, digital transformation, innovation, energy, and sustainable development.
The forum witnessed broad participation from heads of states, governments, ministers, leaders of international economic and financial institutions, prominent investors, and businessmen, forming a global platform for economic dialogue and shaping future trends in trade and investment cooperation among various countries.
Raed Salama pointed out that this participation aligns with the association's strategy to enhance the presence of the Palestinian private sector at major international economic forums, open new channels for communication with the global business community, and attract cooperation and investment opportunities that would support Palestinian economic development and enhance the openness of the Palestinian economy to international markets.
On the sidelines of the forum, Mr. Raed Salama held a series of meetings with officials from the Roscongress Foundation, during which the prospects for developing joint cooperation between the two sides were discussed and plans were made to organize specialized bilateral business meetings between Palestinian businessmen and their Russian counterparts in the coming period, contributing to strengthening trade exchange, building new investment partnerships, and creating direct cooperation opportunities between the private sectors of both countries.
The association confirmed that its participation in this global event reflects the robustness of the strategic relationship it has with the Roscongress Foundation and its keenness to benefit from major international economic platforms to enhance the position of the Palestinian private sector and expand its international relations network, positively impacting the Palestinian national economy.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is one of the most prominent global economic events, attracting tens of thousands of participants from over a hundred countries annually, and serving as a leading international platform for launching major economic initiatives, signing agreements, and investment partnerships, as well as discussing the most impactful global economic issues on the future of trade, investment, and development worldwide.
