Palestine Stock Exchange Reshapes Its Board of Directors
SadaNews - The Palestine Stock Exchange announced the formation of a new board of directors by appointing 7 members to oversee the next four-year period. The new board blends experienced members from previous terms with new members from leadership and entrepreneurial competencies. The board includes Mrs. Rola Shanar as President, Mr. Jaafar Abu Lubda as Vice President, Dr. Ziad Barghouthi, Khaled Anabtawi, Tarek Zahran, Firas Sheikh, and Rami Khoury.
The board possesses distinguished competencies and diverse experiences in investment and the development of the national economy, enhancing the achievement of a safe investment environment for investors in the Palestinian securities sector, which positively reflects on the company's performance and growth trajectory.
The new members also carry expertise in management, governance, institutional development, and investment at the Middle East level. The first candidate, Rami Khoury, serves as the CEO of MEII Capital Management and Vice President of the Middle East Investment Initiative (MEII). Khoury is regarded as a veteran specialist in development finance and management in the Middle East and North Africa region. He has previously held several positions, including Senior Investment Manager at the Danish Investment Fund IFU in Copenhagen, Vice President of the team in the Financial Sector Reform project in Palestine funded by USAID, an Investment Analyst at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Senior Auditor at the global auditing firm KPMG in both Bahrain and Palestine.
Khoury holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in business administration with a specialization in finance from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. He has also passed the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination in the state of Illinois.
Firas Sheikh serves as the Director of Institutional Services at Ooredoo Palestine, possessing professional experience in executive management, governance, legal and policy consulting, and institutional development. He has held several high-profile advisory positions, including Legal Advisor and Policy Consultant to the Orthodox Patriarchate in Palestine and Jordan. He also holds the position of Business Development Consultant at Creative Association in Washington, D.C., and serves as a consultant for the Community Policing Program (CPP) funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) at the U.S. Department of State. He holds two bachelor's degrees in law and military sciences and conflict resolution from the Dubai Police Academy, along with a higher diploma in international conflicts and disputes.
