Gazans Miss the Moroccan Field Hospital

Even with normalization with Israel, Arab countries that have normalized relations can serve the Palestinian cause in general and the residents of the Gaza Strip in particular in areas that non-normalizing countries cannot, leveraging their diplomatic relations with Israel and their important strategic ties with Washington, both of which are keen on maintaining this relationship; without them, Trump's so-called "Abrahamic peace" project would fail.

The areas of required and urgent assistance now are of a humanitarian relief nature, where these normalizing countries - Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco - can deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip more than the capacity of other non-normalizing countries.

The residents of the Gaza Strip feel and appreciate the assistance provided by these countries in the fields of food aid and medical support, as there are field hospitals in the Strip belonging to these countries, some of which were operational before the current war like the Jordanian hospital, the Emirati hospital, and even the Kuwaiti and Saudi hospitals, despite the fact that these two countries do not have official relations with Israel.

If the Arab Republic of Egypt has been one of the most supportive Arab countries for the Palestinian people both before and after normalization for geopolitical and historical reasons, then the Kingdom of Morocco, due to its historical ties with the Palestinian people at all official and grassroots levels, and its ongoing support in all forms until now, also because of its strategic and historical relations with Washington and with Israel and Jews worldwide, can play an important role in the events concerning the Palestinian issue, especially regarding the participation of Moroccan military forces within international forces to maintain security in the Strip. To remind here, Morocco sent a military contingent led by General Sfarawi to fight alongside Syria during the October War of 1973, and dozens of Moroccan soldiers were martyred. We also hope that Morocco increases the food and medical aid entering the Strip.

In this context, we call on His Majesty King Mohammed VI to restore the military field hospital to the Strip, enhancing it with all specializations and equipment, especially since there are thousands of patients and war-injured persons unable to travel for treatment.

The residents of the Gaza Strip do not forget the medical and humanitarian role of the Moroccan military field hospital during previous wars.
