Saudi Arabia: Interception and Destruction of Drones Coming from Iraqi Territory

SadaNews - On Monday, Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed several drones coming from Iraqi territory.

Lieutenant General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, explained that the drones intercepted and destroyed in recent hours were attempting to target oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh.

General Al-Maliki indicated that "these terrorist attempts originated from Iraqi territory and were executed by Iranian-backed terrorist militias," affirming the "Kingdom's inherent right to defend itself and its resources, and to maintain the right to respond at the appropriate time and place."

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom's strongest condemnation of the attacks involving drones launched by militias affiliated with Iran from within Iraqi territory, reaffirming the Kingdom's commitment to protecting its security and sovereignty, and responding to sources of aggression and deterring aggressors.

The ministry emphasized the necessity for the Iraqi government to take all measures to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for any attacks targeting the Kingdom, in order to ensure regional security and prevent the recurrence of such attacks.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Houthis stated that operations targeted the supply and transport of oil from eastern Saudi Arabia to Yanbu using several drones.
