Among them 1,600 in 24 hours.. Ukraine announces the death and injury of 1.4 million Russians since the start of the war

SadaNews - The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced on Monday that the total losses of Russian forces since the outbreak of the war on February 24, 2022, have risen to about 1.44 million military personnel killed and injured, following the recording of 1,590 casualties in the last 24 hours.

The agency stated in a statement published on its Facebook account and reported by the Ukrainian news agency (Ukrinform) that the total casualties of the Russian army have reached approximately 1,440,580 military personnel since the beginning of the war.

It added that Ukrainian forces have destroyed since the onset of the conflict 12,225 tanks, 25,032 armored combat vehicles, 46,831 artillery systems, and 1,969 multiple rocket launchers.

The statement noted the destruction of 1,519 air defense systems, 439 warplanes, 354 helicopters, in addition to 42,955 drones and 4,950 cruise missiles.

Kyiv also announced the destruction of 34 warships and submarines, 126,302 vehicles and fuel tanks, and 4,472 units of special military equipment since the start of military operations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that he expected North Korea to provide more troops and heavy weapons to Russia to support its war against Ukraine, adding that Russia is preparing to deploy an additional 30,000 North Korean soldiers in the Voronezh region, with Pyongyang also intending to supply Moscow with additional launch platforms for ballistic missiles.

Under the mutual defense treaty between the two countries, North Korea sent about 14,000 troops to fight alongside Russian forces in the Kursk region in 2024 after a wide Ukrainian incursion into the area.

Mutual Attacks

On the ground, Russian authorities reported on Monday that two people were killed and 17 others injured in Ukrainian airstrike attacks targeting the cities of Rostov-on-Don and Belgorod in southern Russia.

Rostov Governor Yuri Sliusar stated that a couple was killed and five people were injured, two of whom are in critical condition, as a result of a drone attack.

He added that the debris of the drones caused fires in several locations, including warehouses, and also led to shattered windows in a residential building.

In Belgorod, authorities reported that a drone attack resulted in the injury of 12 people, including two children, and a fire broke out in a residential building.

On the Ukrainian side, Zaporizhia Governor Ivan Fedorov stated that a Russian attack with guided bombs and drones resulted in the death of one person and the injury of two others.

Sumy Governor Oleksiy Hryhorov mentioned that a Russian attack with guided aerial bombs resulted in the injury of five people. Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians in the ongoing war since the outbreak of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The targeting between the two sides has escalated recently to include vital infrastructure, while Kyiv seeks to undermine Russian energy revenues and Moscow continues military pressure through large-scale attacks.
