The "Coalition" Launches a Military Operation Against Houthi Targets in Al Hudaydah

SadaNews - The "Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen" announced on Saturday the execution of a proportional military response against legitimate Houthi targets in Al Hudaydah Governorate, in accordance with the provisions of international humanitarian law and its customary rules.

The coalition spokesman, Major General Turki al-Maliki, stated in a statement that "The Houthi militia committed a cowardly and reckless act when it targeted commercial vessels in the Red Sea, adding this to its list of crimes and maritime terrorism in one of the most important international waterways," as he put it.

The statement clarified that "the coalition implemented a firm and strong response, prioritizing the preservation of the resources of the Yemeni people," keen to avoid any actions that may negatively impact them and exacerbate their suffering caused by the practices of the Houthis and their continuous refusal of all initiatives aimed at alleviating it.

Major General al-Maliki indicated that the response "focused on legitimate military targets belonging to the militia, linked to the threat faced by ships in the Red Sea, and that the operation concluded with the achievement of proportionality and the planned operational objectives," while the targeting of commercial tankers by the Houthis reflects their nature as "a terrorist group."

"The coalition" noted that "it did not target the Port of Al Hudaydah," adding that "all Yemeni ports, including Al Hudaydah, Ras Isa, and Salif, remain open to maritime navigation and receive commercial vessels transporting food, goods, fuel, and construction materials, as well as flights to Yemeni airports," which refutes the Houthis' claims regarding the alleged blockade.

The statement pointed out that "the militia still refuses to operate flights from Sana'a International Airport and insists on besieging the Yemeni people to export the problems and suffering it has caused, which increases the suffering of Yemenis in the areas under its control," while work continues under Security Council Resolution 2216 to prevent Houthi attempts, by all means, to introduce weapons and ammunition into Yemen to prolong their control over the resources of its people.

Major General al-Maliki affirmed that "Saudi Arabia has stood, and will continue to stand, by the Yemeni people and their government in the most difficult circumstances and changes," based on the leadership of the kingdom's commitment, which has prioritized development and the stability of the Yemeni economy to improve the lives of Yemenis and alleviate their suffering amid the difficult economic conditions facing their country.

The "coalition" renewed its commitment to standing by the Yemeni people in confronting the terrorist militia, emphasizing that it will continue to take all operational measures and necessary precautions to protect vessels, the kingdom's interests, and national resources, and will respond to any hostile acts without hesitation.
