Dozens of Drones Target Moscow as Zelensky Ridicules the "Donbas Complex"
SadaNews - Russia announced it intercepted 419 drones launched at various areas, including the capital Moscow, during the night from Monday to Tuesday, while Ukrainian authorities reported that 10 people were killed in Russian attacks on Monday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mocked Russia's failure to establish control over the Donbas region.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated today that air defense forces intercepted 419 Ukrainian drones overnight, including over the Moscow region.
It was noted that Ukrainian drones were intercepted in 19 areas, including the Crimea Peninsula, which Russia annexed, and the neighboring Krasnodar region of Russia.
Moscow's Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated on Telegram that air defenses shot down 50 drones heading towards the Russian capital, without reporting any casualties or damages so far.
Sobyanin explained that rescue teams were deployed in areas where drone debris fell, without providing further details.
For its part, the Ukrainian army announced on Tuesday that the number of Russian military casualties since the beginning of the war has reached about 1,403,550 individuals, including 1,350 killed or injured in the past 24 hours.
Ukrainian Casualties
In contrast, Ukrainian authorities announced that 10 people were killed in Russian attacks on Dnipro, Zaporizhia, and Kharkiv on Monday.
In the city of Dnipro in southeastern Ukraine, 6 people were killed and 29 others injured in a missile attack, according to Dnipropetrovsk region Governor Oleksandr Honcharenko in a Telegram post.
Honcharenko posted a photo showing a passenger minibus with its rear windows shattered and a building with broken windows, along with another unclear photo of a corpse lying next to stairs.
In Zaporizhia, officials reported that a Russian drone attack targeted a passenger minibus, resulting in the deaths of two men and a woman, and injuring 8 others, including a 7-year-old child.
Meanwhile, in the city of Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine, officials announced that a glide bomb targeted the city, killing a 23-year-old woman and injuring 10 others.
Zelensky's Messages
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in a video speech that the Kremlin has set 15 deadlines for establishing control over the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine over more than 4 years and postponed them.
He added, "The Russian political leadership remains obsessed with the Donbas region. If Russia does not end the war, it will have to postpone that deadline again."
Russian forces currently control most of the territory of the Donbas region, which includes the Donetsk and Luhansk provinces, but have not yet succeeded in fully establishing control over the region.
Zelensky's statements came after Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected what was described as a proposal from Kyiv to cease long-range strikes and calm the fighting.
The Ukrainian president said that Putin's remarks show that he is disconnected from the concerns of the Russian people, who are facing long queues at gas stations due to Ukrainian strikes on oil facilities.
He added, "Even an oil-producing country - and as it is called, a gas station - is now facing fuel crises."
The ongoing Russian war in Ukraine, now in its fifth year, has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands. Kyiv has recently launched a series of strikes deep into Russian territory targeting oil facilities, leading to a shortage in fuel supplies.
