Qatar Intensifies Diplomatic Contacts to Stop the War and Lebanese Speaker's Envoy in Doha

SadaNews - Qatar has entered the diplomatic efforts aimed at containing the military escalation and stopping the war in Lebanon, through intensive movements and communications with the American side.

Qatari officials have conducted a series of consultations with officials in Washington since Sunday afternoon, with the aim of supporting de-escalation efforts and preventing the expansion of military confrontation in the region, according to the Lebanese newspaper "Al-Modon".

These moves come amid escalating field tensions and ongoing regional and international efforts aimed at establishing a ceasefire and reducing the repercussions of the escalation on Lebanon and the region.

According to reports, these communications intensified again on Monday afternoon after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his intention to target the southern suburb of Beirut, prompting Doha to call on the American side to intervene to prevent the strike from being carried out. Qatari officials were later informed by the Americans that the planned attack on the suburb had been canceled.

Data indicates that this Qatari initiative began after a call by Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri with Qatari Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, as part of coordination between the two sides to support efforts to stop the war.

Simultaneously, Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri sent his political aide Ali Hassan Khalil to Qatar on Sunday to learn about the nature of the role Doha is playing in its efforts to stop the war on Lebanon and contribute to the success of Iranian-American negotiations.

Khalil is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with Qatari officials on Tuesday, particularly with Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss the latest developments and efforts being made to de-escalate and reach a ceasefire.
