Axios Reveals Details of the Angry Call Between Trump and Netanyahu

SadaNews: Axios has revealed, citing American officials and informed sources, that U.S. President Donald Trump sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call between them following the Israeli military escalation in Lebanon.

According to the report, Trump expressed anger over Israeli plans to expand military operations and target Beirut, warning that such moves would increase Israel's international isolation and threaten ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.

The site quoted an American official saying that Trump confirmed to Netanyahu that the escalation in Lebanon could undermine negotiations with Iran, which include a draft agreement stipulating a ceasefire in Lebanon and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Sources added that Trump strongly pressured Israel to refrain from carrying out a large-scale strike on Beirut, considering the call to be among the most tense exchanges between the two men since his return to the White House.

The report noted that Trump was also disturbed by the rising number of civilian casualties in Lebanon and the expansion of Israeli ground operations in the south, considering that the Israeli response had become disproportionate to the threats faced.

Following the call, Trump announced that negotiations with Iran were still ongoing "at a fast pace," while an Israeli official confirmed to the site that Tel Aviv is currently not planning to carry out strikes against Hezbollah targets in Beirut.

For his part, Netanyahu stated in a message that he informed Trump that Israel would continue its operations in southern Lebanon and that it would act against targets in Beirut if attacks originating from Lebanese territory persisted.
