Al-Shara Calls on Trump to Lift All Sanctions on Damascus in a Phone Call

SadaNews - Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara urged his American counterpart, Donald Trump, to lift the remaining sanctions on Damascus to enable the economy to regain its activity, in a phone call on Sunday.

The conversation included Trump’s confirmation of the importance of maintaining stability in Syria and supporting the recovery and reconstruction process.

The Syrian presidency stated that the call discussed "the bilateral relations between the two countries, and the latest developments in the political and security situation in the region."

In addition to "discussing ways to enhance mutual cooperation that supports stability in Syria and contributes to advancing the economic recovery process in the upcoming phase," al-Shara emphasized in this context the "importance of continued international support for Syria in the reconstruction and recovery phase."

He pointed out that "lifting the remaining sanctions is a fundamental step to enable the Syrian economy to regain its activity and improve living conditions for citizens," explaining that this "would encourage investments and create a suitable environment for the return of economic and developmental projects to various vital sectors."
