Arrest of a Suspect in the Murder of Basel Farouni from Nazareth

SadaNews - The Israeli occupation police announced today, Thursday, the arrest of a suspect involved in the murder of young Basel Ashraf Farouni (20 years old) from the city of Nazareth, who was killed by gunfire inside a car wash while working in November 2025.

According to a police statement, the central unit "Yamar HaMakim" in the northern district has been conducting a covert investigation into the case since the day the crime occurred on November 22, 2025, before the investigation became public on May 11 of this year, when the suspect was arrested.

The police added that forces from the northern district successfully found the weapons used in the murder shortly after the crime was committed by locating where they were hidden, and the weapons were transferred to police laboratories for further forensic examinations and evidence collection.

It was noted that the "Nof HaGalil" - Nazareth magistrates' court extended the suspect's detention until May 20, 2026, on Tuesday.

During the court session, Judge Naaman Idris issued an order prohibiting the publication of the suspect's identity or place of residence, as he was a minor at the time of the crime.

The police confirmed that investigations are still ongoing, emphasizing the continued efforts to combat crime, uncover its circumstances, and bring those involved to justice.
