After the Release of Activists Abu Kashk and Thiago, the Network of Civil Society Organizations and the Council of Human Rights Organizations Call for Intensifying Grassroots Solidarity Campaigns
SadaNews - The Palestinian Network of Civil Society Organizations and the Council of Human Rights Organizations issued a statement praising the brave international solidarity movement, from university students to labor unions and activists.
The statement reads as follows: The Palestinian Network of Civil Society Organizations and the Council of Human Rights Organizations salute the brave international solidarity movement and its symbols, from university students to labor unions, and from free activists to those defending rights in front of the colonial machine and the heroes of the steadfast fleet. This unprecedented global movement, transcending borders and languages, has formed a real pressure front and proved that the human conscience is alive, and that the will of the people is capable of holding the most powerful systems of oppression accountable when official diplomacy fails.
We emphasize that this solidarity movement has achieved a tangible partial victory in breaking the will of the occupation in the struggle against the siege and the crime of genocide and the apartheid system, forcing it to release the activists Saif Abu Kashk and Thiago Avila. We recall the milestones in breaking the symbolic siege, exposing the occupier's narrative in international forums, disrupting arms deals, and forcing the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court to act, albeit insufficiently. This victory, although incomplete, has confused the settlement project and shown the world that the wall of impunity has begun to crack.
In this context, we cannot forget the issue of Palestinian prisoners and detainees, who represent the vanguard of sacrifice and the conscience of the national movement. Thousands of them, including children, women, and the sick, have been subjected for decades and continue to endure the most horrific forms of systematic terrorism, physical and psychological torture, deliberate starvation, rape, and deprivation of the most basic human and legal rights guaranteed by the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law. The occupation has resorted to the mass killing of prisoners by enacting the death penalty law for prisoners, which demonstrates the fascism of the occupier. The occupation's detention centers are slow extermination camps, and justice cannot prevail without their complete liberation, revealing the fate of the forcibly disappeared, and prosecuting the torturers.
Despite these achievements, the Gaza Strip and all occupied Palestinian territories continue to suffer under what is called "Trump's Middle East Plan" in its renewed version, which has been nothing but an attempt to institutionalize genocide and cloak it in a fragile political cover. What is happening is a continuation and intensification of the ethnic cleansing plan against our people: deliberate starvation, forced displacement, systematic destruction of homes, hospitals, and schools, and the killing of families, all aimed at emptying Palestine of its people and transforming it into a soulless land, under the guise of voluntary displacement or a false "Riviera." This savage colonial project is today taking place with a shameful American and European green light and with the silent partnership of an international system that has so far failed to compel the occupation to cease fire and allow aid in.
Based on the above, the Network of Civil Society Organizations and the Council of Human Rights Organizations demand that the international solidarity movement, in all its spectrums, reorganize its ranks and escalate its liberation struggle for:
- Activating boycott campaigns and divestments and imposing sanctions against the occupation and genocide and apartheid state.
- Prosecuting the leaders of the occupation, both political and military, for their crimes, by supporting investigations by the International Criminal Court and arrest warrants against them, and legal action against them in national courts under the principle of universal jurisdiction.
- Imposing an immediate and comprehensive military boycott, preventing Israel from receiving any weapons or lethal components, and dismantling military alliances with it.
- Providing international protection for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and all places of their presence.
The partial victory achieved signals the beginning of a fiercer battle, in which the solidarity movement recognizes that it faces not just a racist occupation, but a colonial settlement system that threatens international peace and security.
Isolating and holding it accountable is the only path to peace, freedom, and justice, and to our people’s right to self-determination and return.
