The President Receives the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Public Prosecutor
SadaNews - President Mahmoud Abbas received today, Sunday, the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Abdul Ghani Al-Owiyyeh, and the Public Prosecutor, Counselor Akram Al-Khatib, in a meeting that reflected the national and constitutional status of the judiciary and the public prosecution as two essential pillars of the justice system and the rule of law in the State of Palestine.
During the meeting, he was briefed on the reality of the work of the judicial system and the public prosecution, and heard about the most significant challenges and obstacles facing the course of justice in light of the delicate political, economic, and security conditions prevailing in Palestine, and the increasing burdens imposed on the justice institutions and their continuity.
The president emphasized the importance of preserving the independence of the judiciary and enhancing the rule of law, commending the significant national responsibility carried by judges, public prosecution members, and judicial authority employees, as well as their sincere efforts to maintain the continuity of justice institutions despite the exceptional circumstances.
He also appreciated their resilience and professional and national integrity, confirming that the continued performance of the judiciary and the public prosecution in carrying out their mission with competence and capability reflects the strength of Palestinian state institutions and their commitment to justice and the protection of citizens' rights.
