Washington Approves Sale of Military Equipment to Germany Worth $11.9 Billion
SadaNews - The U.S. Department of State announced late Friday to Saturday that the United States has approved a potential sale of military equipment to Germany valued at approximately $11.9 billion.
The U.S. State Department stated that "this proposed sale will support U.S. foreign policy and national security goals by enhancing the security of a NATO member state."
The statement added that Germany has been a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe.
According to the statement, Germany is seeking to acquire eight integrated combat systems, modern radar systems, and guided missile launch systems, among other equipment.
This technology will allow warships to detect threats early, respond to them, and communicate with other NATO units.
The State Department noted that "the proposed sale will enhance the capability of the German naval forces to address current and future threats by improving national and regional defense, as well as interoperability with U.S. forces and NATO allies."
The deal has been submitted to the U.S. Congress, which still has the ability to object to it.
