Reports of the "Disappearance" of American Nuclear Scientists.. Trump: "A Very Serious Matter"
SadaNews - American media has highlighted incidents involving the disappearance or death of nuclear scientists in the fields of space, defense, and nuclear affairs recently.
Questions have increased in scientific circles regarding these cases, and no link between them has been confirmed.
Newsweek reported that veteran scientist Michael David Hicks, who worked at a NASA lab and died in 2023, did not have the cause of his death revealed, marking the ninth case on the list.
The Hill reported that President Donald Trump told reporters on Thursday that he held a meeting about unconfirmed reports of the disappearance of nuclear scientists, stating, "I just finished a meeting on this issue," describing it as "a very serious matter."
Trump said, "I hope it's random, but we will know the truth in the next week and a half," adding that "some of them were extremely important figures."
Trump's remarks came after White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt indicated on Wednesday during a press conference that the Trump administration may investigate the matter, saying, "I have not yet spoken with the relevant authorities on this. I will definitely do that, and we will provide you with an answer. If this is true, I certainly believe this government and administration will take it seriously."
