Continued Internet Outage in Iran Reaches 1000 Hours
SadaNews - A group monitoring the internet, "NetBlocks," reported early this Saturday morning that Iranians have been without access to the internet for 1000 hours.
The organization, which tracks internet shutdowns, stated that this is the longest internet outage for any country in history.
Since the start of Israeli and American attacks on the country on February 28, most Iranians have only been able to access a restricted intranet containing content approved by the state.
In contrast, a small portion of the military and ruling authorities continue to use the internet without restrictions. Iranian media also disseminate their news on the Telegram app and the banned website X within the country.
The internet in Iran is subject to strict censorship even in peacetime, with many websites and applications blocked in a country with more than 90 million inhabitants.
VPN services are a part of daily life for the majority of Iranian users to access social media and platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. However, connections are often slow and unreliable.
