Owner of Real Estate and Luxury Cars.. Trial of Haifa Wehbe's Manager for Money Laundering

SadaNews - The Cairo Economic Court has scheduled a session on April 14 to consider the first hearing in the trial of Mohamed Wazir, the former manager of artist Haifa Wehbe, who is accused of money laundering.

The details of the case date back to a previous complaint filed by artist Haifa Wehbe, in which she accused her former manager Mohamed Wazir of seizing her funds and withdrawing them from her bank accounts, subsequently depositing them into his own account, exploiting the official power of attorney issued to him.

Investigations revealed suspicions of money laundering related to the allegations, indicating that the accused conducted several consecutive financial transfers within the banking system, involving large amounts in Egyptian pounds and dollars, exceeding 9 million Egyptian pounds and 800 thousand dollars, in an attempt to conceal the source of the funds and avoid suspicion, by presenting them as seemingly legal transactions.

Real Estate and Luxury Cars

It was also revealed that the accused used various means to conceal the funds, including the blending of bank transfers with cash amounts, making it difficult to trace their true origin, as well as using them to purchase assets and properties. He bought real estate, administrative units, and luxury cars with part of the funds, with some of those properties registered in the names of close associates, primarily his brother, in an attempt to obscure the actual ownership of those assets.

Investigations confirmed that the accused established several commercial companies and used them as a facade to channel the money into seemingly legitimate activities, which investigators considered one of the methods used in money laundering crimes.

Misappropriation and Fraud.. and Imprisonment

The case of artist Haifa Wehbe captured public attention in 2020, as she filed official complaints accusing her manager Mohamed Wazir of misappropriating millions of her funds. This case not only drew attention due to the large sum involved, but also revealed the complexity of professional relationships that can quickly turn into a fierce legal battle between the parties.

The incident was previously recorded as a misdemeanors case, and a verdict was issued sentencing the accused to three years in prison for misappropriation and fraud, after seizing approximately 4 million dollars from Haifa Wehbe's funds, in which she stated through her official social media accounts, "This is one case among a series of other cases for which we are awaiting rulings.. and victory is from God alone, and praise be to God."

For his part, Wazir claimed that he is married to the Lebanese star, a claim which she denied and accused him of several allegations that are still under deliberation before Egyptian courts.
