The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Sends Messages to Parties and International Institutions Regarding the Knesset's Approval of the Law to Execute Palestinian Prisoners

SadaNews - The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, has sent identical messages to several parties and international institutions, including Mr. Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations; Ms. Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy; Ms. Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross; and Mr. Volker Turk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, regarding the rejection and condemnation of the "Israeli Knesset's" approval of the law to execute Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation jails.

The Secretary-General considered that this legislation represents a dangerous precedent in legislating murder, terrorism, and political execution, and is an extension of the systematic Israeli violations in the occupied Palestinian territory, a direct assault on the values of justice and human dignity, and a blatant violation of international law, including international humanitarian law and international human rights law.

The Secretary-General noted that the approval of this law coincides with the grave conditions of Palestinian prisoners due to the violations and crimes documented by the UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, including humiliation, physical and psychological torture, inhumane treatment, sexual violence, starvation, and administrative detention, which aim to strip Palestinians of their freedom, dignity, identity, and humanity; calling on all concerned parties and institutions and their various agencies and member states to assume their responsibilities to take the necessary actions and measures to stop and annul this illegal law and to protect Palestinian detainees.
