Trump Threatens "Two or Three Weeks" of Heavy Strikes on Iran
SadaNews - President Donald Trump threatened two or three weeks of heavy strikes on Iran, but stated that the U.S. military will finish the mission "very quickly."
Trump added early Thursday in a speech from the White House addressing the ongoing conflict with Iran that has lasted for more than a month: "We are very close" to ending the war.
He considered that "the core strategic objectives (of the war) are nearing completion."
He said that the United States has achieved "decisive and overwhelming victories" in Iran since the beginning of U.S.-Israeli operations on February 28.
The U.S. president also announced that "the military operation in Iran has completely destroyed Iran's nuclear program," reiterating his assurance that Tehran "will never obtain nuclear weapons."
He stated that the war against Iran has caused its military and economic destruction and that it will continue until all its objectives are achieved.
Trump added that "the next two or three weeks will witness powerful strikes against Iran."
He also pledged "not to abandon the Gulf countries" that have been targeted by Iran since the war began.
On the other hand, Trump spoke about ongoing discussions regarding Iran without providing details, seemingly indicating diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement to end the war.
However, he threatened to "return Iran to the Stone Age" if no agreement is reached, by targeting power stations.
Trump said that "regime change in Iran was not our goal, but it has indeed happened."
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran closed, Trump called on countries that depend on it to "take care of it."
The U.S. president, who has criticized many NATO allies for not providing assistance to the United States, stated: "Go to the strait. Take it over. Protect it. Use it."
He continued: "We did not need the Strait of Hormuz and we will not need it."
