Israeli Newspaper Reveals the Secret Behind the Non-Assassination of Bezhakian and Araghi

SadaNews - In a report published by the newspaper Yisrael Hayom, a comprehensive picture of the military and political situation between the United States and Israel on one side, and Iran on the other, is presented, focusing on the reasons for not targeting Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian and his Foreign Minister Abbas Araghi.

The report clarifies that Iran's rejection of the American proposal was not surprising, as Tehran considered it a pretext for a ground attack. In contrast, Washington and Tel Aviv believe that the war could last for weeks, with a firm American insistence on achieving its objectives in full, primarily the complete termination of the Iranian nuclear program, including facilities and enriched materials.

Yisrael Hayom also cites Western diplomatic sources stating that keeping communication channels open with certain leaders of the Iranian regime is essential to ensure the presence of an internal party capable of ending the war before the regime collapses.

In this context, broad Gulf support for the American position has emerged, with Gulf states - including Oman - supporting the continuation of the campaign until the Iranian threat is eliminated, especially after Tehran's demands to control the Strait of Hormuz.

Yisrael Hayom indicates that the Iranian response, despite its public rejection, carries an indirectly negotiable nature, focusing on a ceasefire without addressing the nuclear program or missiles, which is understood as a request for a temporary calm, according to the newspaper.

Militarily, Yisrael Hayom confirms that operations will continue, focusing on destroying missile launch pads and drone platforms, in addition to the targeted assassinations led by Israel.

Regarding the reason for not targeting Bezhakian and Araghi, Yisrael Hayom reveals that the decision was deliberate from the beginning of the war, as they were granted "immunity" to maintain a potential negotiation channel with figures capable of ending the conflict. According to a security source quoted by the newspaper, targeting them was easily possible, but was avoided for strategic reasons related to maintaining a diplomatic "life line."

The newspaper quotes a security source familiar with the management of the war saying: "If we had managed to eliminate the entire military leadership, Khamenei and many of his ministers, Larijani and others, then it means we could eliminate Bezhakian and Araghi too, and even more easily."

However, the problem lies, according to the newspaper, in the ability of the two men to control the other elements of the regime, namely the leaders of the Revolutionary Guard who are practically managing the war and formulating policies, despite sharp internal criticisms within the regime, even within the Revolutionary Guard itself, according to the newspaper.

Yisrael Hayom concludes by pointing out the existence of an escalating internal crisis in Iran, where disagreements within the regime are increasing, particularly between political leaders and the Revolutionary Guard, and even claims that there is an increase in cases of fleeing due to deteriorating living conditions and unpaid salaries, which may affect the regime's ability to continue the war, it says.

The newspaper clarifies that the majority of Iranian employees have not received their salaries, except for the holiday bonus that was transferred last week.
