A Six-Nation Arab Statement Condemns Attacks by Iranian-backed Iraqi Factions
SadaNews - Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan condemned the attacks carried out by Iranian-backed armed factions from Iraq against countries in the region, their facilities, and infrastructure, which constitute a violation of international laws and charters and a blatant infringement of UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026) which explicitly demands that Iran immediately and unconditionally cease any aggression or threats against neighboring countries, including through the use of proxies.
The six nations renewed their condemnation in a joint statement on Wednesday, expressing their strongest denunciations of the blatant Iranian aggressions, which are a gross violation of their sovereignty, territorial integrity, international law, and international humanitarian law, whether directly or through its proxies and the armed factions it supports in the region.
The countries appreciated their fraternal relationship with Iraq, urging its government to take necessary measures to stop the attacks carried out by factions, militias, and armed groups from Iraqi territory towards its neighboring countries immediately, in order to preserve fraternal relations and avoid further escalation.
The statement reiterated the complete and legitimate right of the six nations to self-defense in the face of these criminal attacks in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, which safeguards the right to self-defense for states individually and collectively in the event of aggression, and their right to take all necessary measures to preserve their sovereignty, security, and stability.
The statement also condemned actions and activities that undermine the security and stability of the region, planned by Iranian-aligned sleeper cells and terrorist organizations related to "Hezbollah," commending the brave armed forces in confronting these aggressions and the vigilance of their security apparatuses, which serve as a strong shield and a watchful eye to maintain the safety of homelands and lives, as well as their sincere and dedicated efforts in apprehending espionage cells, terrorist organizations, and revealing their malicious schemes.
