Saudi Arabia: US Embassy in Riyadh Attacked by Two Drones
SadaNews - Saudi Arabia announced on Tuesday that the US Embassy in Riyadh was attacked by two drones.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense stated in a post on its official account on "X": "The US Embassy in Riyadh was attacked by two drones according to initial estimates."
It added: "This resulted in a limited fire and minor material damage to the building."
According to "Fox News," the US Embassy in Riyadh "was empty at the time of the Iranian drone attack, with no injuries reported."
In this context, the US Embassy in Riyadh, as reported by "Reuters," advised American citizens in Saudi Arabia to shelter in place.
France Press Agency reported from sources that drones targeted the diplomatic quarter in Riyadh.
"Reuters" later reported from two sources that two new explosions were heard in the diplomatic quarter of the Saudi capital.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Major General Turki Al-Malik, also announced the "interception and destruction of 8 drones near the cities of Riyadh and Al-Kharj."
The Saudi Ministry of Energy had announced on Monday the precautionary suspension of some operating units at the Ras Tanura oil refinery.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, a responsible source in the Ministry of Energy stated: "This morning, the Ras Tanura oil refinery suffered limited damage due to the falling fragments from the interception of two drones in the vicinity of the refinery, which resulted in a limited fire that was immediately dealt with by emergency teams, and thankfully, there were no injuries or fatalities."
It is worth noting that the Saudi Ministry of Defense had announced the interception of two drones that attempted to attack the Ras Tanura refinery on the Arabian Gulf.
