Election Committee: The nomination period for local bodies closes today at 2 PM

SadaNews: The spokesperson for the Central Election Commission, Farid Taamallah, announced today, Monday, that the deadline for submitting nomination applications for the elections at the commission's offices or through the exceptional service via "WhatsApp" will close at 2 PM.

Taamallah confirmed in a statement issued by the Election Commission that no applications will be accepted after this deadline, and the next three days will be allocated for correcting applications and completing their requirements, with the preliminary list of candidates and their lists to be published next Friday.

He explained that allowing the submission of nomination applications via "WhatsApp" was to facilitate the process for citizens in light of the current circumstances of aggression, closures, and checkpoints, enabling them to exercise their right to run for office.

He added that applicants must fulfill all required attachments, including a clearance certificate, deposit slip, resignation, and others, before the end of the correction period, which concludes at 2 PM on Thursday, March 5, for those who submitted their applications via "WhatsApp".

He pointed out that the next three days will be dedicated to correcting nomination requests and completing the requirements and attachments for the candidates, indicating that the order of candidates on the ballot will be based on the order of receipt of completed nomination applications.

He noted that the committee will publish the preliminary list of candidates and their lists for all local bodies on Friday, March 6, via its website, to allow citizens to submit objections if they wish.
