The Election Committee Adopts Exceptional Procedures for Receiving Candidacy Applications Amid Closures
SadaNews - The Central Election Commission announced that due to the current war conditions and the closures of checkpoints and gates in the Palestinian territories, which have affected movement and made it difficult to reach the committee's offices, exceptional procedures have been adopted to ensure the continuation of the candidacy process for the 2026 local councils elections on the scheduled date.
The committee called on citizens who wish to submit candidacy applications, whether as individuals for village council membership or as lists for municipal councils, and who are unable to reach the committee offices and application centers, to send their applications via the WhatsApp numbers provided below, according to their respective electoral districts, no later than 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 1.
The committee clarified that it has allocated three WhatsApp numbers for each electoral district to facilitate and expedite the application process.
Regarding the required attachments for candidacy, the committee indicated that they will be completed later after receiving the main application via WhatsApp, ensuring that citizens' right to run is not hindered and enabling them to complete the procedures within the legal timeframe.
It is worth noting that the application reception offices of the committee remain open to accept candidacy applications for those who can reach them until 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 1.
