Fatah's Central Committee Holds Meeting in Ramallah
SadaNews - The Central Committee of the Fatah Movement held a meeting yesterday, Tuesday, at the Mobilization and Organization headquarters, where several national and organizational issues were reviewed, primarily the work of the preparatory committee and its subcommittees regarding the preparations and ongoing procedures for holding the eighth conference of the Fatah Movement on 14/5/2026, where the preparatory committee will hold its next meeting on 2/3/2026.
The Central Committee expressed its satisfaction with the organizational, political, and administrative procedures completed to provide all factors for the success of the eighth conference, given the current situation, and the measures being taken to remove obstacles that may hinder the conference's convening. The Central Committee decided to intensify its meetings to follow up on the work of the preparatory committee for the eighth conference of the movement.
The Central Committee also discussed the ongoing preparations for the local council elections scheduled for next April and the important preparations currently underway regarding the formation of candidate lists in various provinces.
It reviewed the results of dialogue sessions that took place in Cairo between the Fatah leadership and the Popular Front leadership, culminating in a joint declaration towards national unity and a comprehensive confrontation strategy, which will be presented to the other factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization in a meeting scheduled to be held later, in order to strengthen national unity within the organization as the sole legitimate representative of our Palestinian people, uphold the independent national decision, and reaffirm the unity of the occupied Palestinian state's territories since 1967 and the unity of its political and legal system in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with Jerusalem as its capital.
It also expressed satisfaction with the dialogue that took place in Cairo between delegations from the Fatah leadership and the Democratic Front and its results within the ongoing national consultations among the factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization to arrange the Palestinian house's affairs, enhance the role of the organization’s institutions, establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, strengthen the steadfastness of citizens in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip, confront displacement schemes, settlement expansion, and the annexation of the West Bank to the occupying state, and emphasize the importance of preserving the geographical, political, and legal unity of the State of Palestine.
The Central Committee asserted the necessity of continuing dialogue and coordination with various Palestinian forces within a unified national vision in the context of the Palestine Liberation Organization that responds to current challenges and strengthens the steadfastness of the Palestinian people. It also reiterated the importance of continuing the dialogue with the rest of the Palestinian factions to enhance the unity of our land and people.
Additionally, the Central Committee discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip, including all its details, especially the outcomes of the "Peace Council" meeting chaired by U.S. President Trump regarding securing the needs of Gaza’s residents and putting an end to their suffering, and reaffirmed the need to implement the second phase of Security Council Resolution 2803, calling for Israel's complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and for armed factions to hand over their weapons to achieve the principle of a single state, a single law, and one legitimate weapon, in order to begin rebuilding the Gaza Strip in coordination with the Palestinian government.
They renewed their warning about the danger of Israeli policies aimed at implementing annexation and racist expansion schemes by intensifying settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory in the West Bank, especially in East Jerusalem, as well as settler terrorism against citizens in Palestinian cities, villages, and camps, along with the arbitrary measures to prevent worshipers from accessing the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, and the increase in settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of occupation forces, which consider a serious violation of the legal and historical status of Islamic and Christian sanctities in East Jerusalem.
The Central Committee confirmed that it will remain in a state of permanent session to follow up on the continuous developments and events related to our national cause and provide all factors of steadfastness to confront any attempt to undermine the unity of our people.
