Americans Ask: Does Huckabee Represent Washington's Interests or Those of Tel Aviv?

SadaNews - In recent days, statements made by the American ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, have sparked widespread outrage after he spoke about Israel's claim over all of the Middle East, based on popular biblical interpretations within the Christian nationalist movement in the United States.

The remarks, made during an interview with American broadcaster Tucker Carlson last Monday, ignited angry responses from official Arab and Islamic circles and on social media platforms.

What is noteworthy is that the controversy did not only extend to the Arab and Islamic world but also reached within the American public itself, as activists and commentators questioned whether the ambassador primarily represents U.S. interests or those of Israel.

Some bloggers deemed Huckabee "unqualified for this position" and called for someone "not from their sect" to replace him, as they described.

Activists called for the ambassador to be summoned to Washington for consultation, saying it is "essential for the president to review his representative in Tel Aviv and correct his course," adding that "Huckabee needs some time in his country to reflect on his mission and the limits of his loyalty."

Another wrote, "It seems that Mike Huckabee is an ambassador in an unusual position. It might be more accurate to describe him as working in favor of Israeli interests rather than those of his own country, which he is supposed to serve."

American Christian voices also emerged criticizing the ambassador's stance, with one writing: "We must pray for Ambassador Mike Huckabee, that God guides him and opens his eyes to stand by the Christians of the Holy Land, alongside being an ambassador representing our government. I did not realize the extent of the destruction Israel has inflicted on the Christians of the Holy Land for over 70 years until I had the opportunity to meet them and learn about them personally in Jerusalem, Nazareth, and Galilee."

He added, "I would have stood by Mike completely if it weren't for my meeting with the Christians of the Holy Land and seeing their daily struggles for survival."
