Finance Minister: Salary payment on Monday and the financial situation of the authority in 2026 is the toughest
SadaNews - The Palestinian Minister of Finance, Dr. Stifan Salama, announced in a press conference followed by SadaNews that a salary payment of 60% with a minimum of 2000 shekels will be made next Monday, just before the holy month of Ramadan.
He added: We are not experiencing a temporary crisis but an existential threat targeting the national authority and the national project.
He stated that the financial situation of the Palestinian National Authority in 2026 is the most challenging since its establishment.
He pointed out that public debt has reached 15.436 billion dollars, saying: "This is a dangerous situation that threatens our ability to provide services to citizens, and we call on the international community to bear its responsibilities to release the clearance revenues, which are indispensable."
Salama indicated that the value of lawsuits filed against the National Authority in Israeli courts is 65 billion shekels.
He added: "Last year, we received external budget assistance amounting to 800 million dollars, which is a significant improvement."
