Egyptian Foreign Minister: The Situation in the West Bank and Gaza is "Extremely Fragile"

SadaNews - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti stated that the Middle East and Europe are going through an exceptionally difficult phase.

During a conference held with his counterparts in the Arab Islamic Ministerial Committee, Abdel Atti referred to the multiple crises in the region, starting from the Palestinian issue and occupation, through the deteriorating situations in Libya and Sudan, which are witnessing the largest humanitarian crisis in the world, where millions of Sudanese citizens are suffering from famine, not to mention the current situations in Syria and Lebanon, along with other crises in the African continent.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister clarified that the European continent is also facing serious challenges, the most prominent being the ongoing repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the resulting political, economic, and security crises.

Regarding the Palestinians, Abdel Atti stated that the Palestinian issue remains a top priority, emphasizing that the conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip are extremely fragile and deteriorating, with a noticeable escalation in the West Bank as well as in Gaza, despite some positive steps being taken.

He noted Egypt's support for U.S. President Donald Trump and his leadership, as well as for the peace plan he proposes, reinforcing the U.S. role as a key guarantor for halting the escalation and enhancing the continuation of the current ceasefire.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister asserted that developments on the ground are still limited, pointing out that the Israeli side imposes several obstacles that hinder the entry of humanitarian aid and the movement of citizens, exacerbating the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories.
