What Did the Black Box of the Libyan Chief of Staff's Plane Show After Its Crash in Turkey?
SadaNews - Turkey announced on Wednesday that the black box recordings of the Libyan plane that crashed in Ankara two months ago show a technical failure in two electrical generators.
This was stated by Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abd al-Qadir Uraloglu regarding the analysis of the black box recordings of the plane, which was carrying a Libyan military delegation that included Chief of Staff Mohamed Hadded on December 23, 2025.
Uraloghu clarified in a statement on Wednesday that conversations among the pilots in the cockpit indicate a failure of two electrical generators in the aircraft.
He added that the plane was in constant contact with the control tower before and after the emergency call, and that it experienced an electrical failure.
He mentioned that the pilots requested to return to the airport and used the emergency aviation call, and that the plane was manually directed due to a complete failure of the aircraft's systems.
The Turkish minister pointed out that the voice recording device showed that two minutes after takeoff, the pilots reported the failure of the second generator, followed by the failure of the third generator after about a second, with no information regarding the first generator.
He added that the pilots' conversations continued for a short while, indicating that all generators had stopped working, but then the system resumed working, and contact was made with the tower at the airport.
He noted that contact with the plane remained until 20:27 local time (it took off at 20:17 local time) when it began to disappear from radar before crashing at the 37th minute.
He indicated that the final decision will be made based on the judicial investigation and expert reports.
The crash of the plane, which was carrying a Libyan military delegation, occurred in Haemana near the Turkish capital Ankara on December 23, resulting in the death of Libyan Chief of Staff Mohamed Hadded and his four companions.
