The Bar Association Warns of Continued Deterioration of Prisoners' Conditions in Occupation Prisons

SadaNews - The Palestinian Bar Association warned in a press statement issued this morning about the coercive conditions faced by prisoners inside the occupation prisons amid the absence of the most basic elements of humanitarian, living, and medical care and the worsening reality of medical neglect.

The association noted that data received from visits conducted by several lawyers to some occupation prisons reveal that prisoners are complaining about the increasing cases of repression and repeated assaults in the context of a repressive and living system that does not respond to the minimum standards of human life and grossly violates all international norms and agreements.

The association stressed that the ongoing deterioration in the situation imposed by the so-called Prisons Authority on prisoners, in light of the absence and absence of all types of oversight, whether international or internal, and the deprivation of the most basic human needs, warns of the commission of further crimes and escalating violations against Palestinian prisoners.

The association added that the international community and relevant international institutions are urged today, more than ever, to take serious steps in light of this tragic reality where various forms of violations are practiced under a legislative cover and illegal executive orders, emphasizing that the continued silence regarding what Palestinian prisoners face inside these death and deprivation enclaves is complicity in entrenching these violations and a motivation to deepen their practices, affirming the necessity and collective responsibility of internationalizing the prisoners' file in light of the severity of what the prisoners are subjected to inside the prisons.
