UN Organization: Displacement of 400 Families in Yemen Within 3 Weeks
SadaNews - The International Organization for Migration reported the displacement of more than 400 families in Yemen during the last three weeks of the current month, just days after announcing the displacement of over 13,000 people in the country during the last quarter of 2025.
The displacement tracking matrix of the UN organization indicated that it monitored the displacement of 402 families in Yemen, comprising 2,412 individuals, at least once since January 1st until the 24th of the same month.
It noted that in the last week, 58 families, consisting of 348 individuals, were displaced, emphasizing that 40 of these families settled in Marib Governorate after arriving from Hadhramaut and Al Hudaydah governorates.
It was pointed out that 15 families moved to Hadhramaut, most of which came from Marib, while two families were displaced within Taiz Governorate.
A recent report by the migration organization documented the displacement of more than 13,000 people in Yemen during the last quarter of 2025.
The organization clarified that it recorded the displacement of 2,262 families in Yemen comprising 13,572 individuals in locations that teams managed to reach between October 1 and December 31, 2025.
It indicated that the wave of displacement in December was largely attributed to recent events in Hadhramaut and Al Mahrah governorates in eastern Yemen, noting that the displacement primarily concentrated in Marib Governorate (1,346 families), which accounted for about 60% of the total recorded movements during the quarter, followed by Taiz (365 families), Al Hudaydah (142), Shabwa (112), and Hadhramaut (105).
Regarding the reasons for displacement, the organization stated that the security situation related to the conflict remained the main reason, accounting for 85% of the total recorded displacement cases during the fourth quarter, while economic reasons contributed 15% of the movements, and only 3 families were displaced due to natural hazards and health-related reasons.
The United Nations states that the number of displaced persons throughout Yemen is approximately 4.8 million, confirming that many of them live in temporary shelters that provide little protection from harsh weather and limited access to essential services.
