UK: Arrest of Protesters Supporting Hunger Striker from the 'Palestine Action' Movement
SadaNews - The Metropolitan Police in London announced the arrest of a group of protesters supporting a hunger-striking prisoner from the "Palestine Action" movement yesterday, Saturday, as they gathered near the "Wormwood Scrubs" prison in West London.
The police stated that they detained several demonstrators outside the prison and began making arrests after they refused to comply with orders to leave the area, indicating that the protesters were suspected of "preventing prison staff from entering and exiting, as well as making threats to police officers."
The Metropolitan Police explained that some demonstrators managed to enter a designated area for prison staff in one of the buildings, confirming that the arrests are made on suspicion of committing "serious offenses."
Video clips circulated on social media showed a group of protesters chanting outside the prison and holding supportive signs, while other footage documented some of them moving towards one of the buildings and entering inside.
According to circulating information, the protest was organized in support of prisoner Omar Khaled, whom the campaign claims is currently the only one on a hunger strike as part of the "Prisoners for Palestine" initiative.
