Tairawi Opens Fire: An Open Letter to President Abbas Revealing Corruption Files
SadaNews - Tawfiq Tairawi, a member of the Central Committee of the "Fatah" Movement, sent an open letter to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), which he published via social media, carrying a sharp tone and unprecedented criticisms regarding what he described as the "collapse of values and morals" within the institutions of the authority.
Tairawi confirmed that the phase of silence has ended, signaling his intention to reveal documented files with names and details to the Palestinian and international public opinion, amid what he deemed to be the absence of the judiciary's role and the disruption of the accountability and responsible systems.
Below is Tairawi's message as published:
An Open Letter to Brother President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen)
For many years, I have addressed you repeatedly and with an open heart, urging your intervention in multiple issues related to the rampant corruption and injustice in our institutions, in order to safeguard the rights of citizens and protect the public right. Some of these issues were referred by you to government heads, and some were referred to the public prosecution, yet, unfortunately, the result remained the same: the absence of any effective measure to protect the people or to put an end to this dangerous chaos.
The hands of the influential and thieves have extended to various joints of the authority, at both the governmental and judicial levels, to the point that the corruption system operates with confidence and immunity, and its practices have evolved to dangerously high levels of threats and intimidation, reaching the point of threatening senior officials, experts, and scholars who prepared documented reports proving the involvement of influential parties in seizing public and private lands and properties, in a criminal act that affects national dignity and ethical values at its core.
In light of this reality, I bitterly ask:
In what country do we live?
And did our people make all these sacrifices, of martyrs, prisoners, and wounded, to reach a stage where thieves and land brokers are allowed to wreak havoc in the homeland without deterrence or accountability?
After dozens of messages and notes I have sent you regarding the collusion of some senior officials and the politicization of the judiciary, and after extensive discussions with my colleagues in the Central Committee, and with the cadres of Fatah in various regions, who can no longer bear this collapse of values and morals within institutions that are supposed to safeguard the national right, I find it necessary to address you today publicly, through the media and social media platforms.
I do this with the conviction that there are those who deliberately obscure the truth from you or present a distorted picture of what is happening, for motives that do not serve the national interest. And while I believe that some of the truth has been conveyed to you, the shortcoming in expressing it fully and without evasion remains a responsibility that cannot be overlooked.
In light of the serious collapse of the judiciary's role, the disruption of the accountability and responsibility system, and the transformation of some institutions that are supposed to be protectors of the public right into a shelter for the corrupt, I announce clearly that the phase of silence has ended. If this reality continues, I will not hesitate to reveal all documented files and issues, fully and with names and details, to the Palestinian public, and through local and international media, to open a path for a popular, national, and moral trial of the corrupt, in light of the judiciary's failure to perform its national and constitutional duties.
And Fatah, the movement of the masses that emerged to seize the rights of the Palestinian people and safeguard their national dignity, cannot accept the continuation of this reality, nor remain silent in the face of the excesses of some corrupt individuals, nor be a false witness to the tampering with the public right or cover up for those who have wronged the sacrifices of our people, our martyrs, and our prisoners.
Hiding the truth is a crime, and covering up corruption is betrayal, and revealing it is a national duty that cannot be postponed.
Palestine, in light of what it is exposed to from massacres and genocide in Gaza, incursions, abuse, destruction, and daily displacement in the West Bank, deserves from us to rise to the level of national and historical responsibility.
Remaining silent today, or merely managing crises, is just as dangerous as the crime itself.
And God is a witness to what I say.
