The discussion focused on the political and humanitarian conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, the importance of coordinating all efforts to protect civilians, and addressing the challenges in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, as well as the necessity of implementing a comprehensive plan for the sector to establish a ceasefire and allow humanitarian aid to reach citizens amidst the current difficult circumstances.
The Minister affirmed the government's readiness, based on the authority of the State of Palestine over the Gaza Strip, to implement the recovery and reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip and its executive programs across all sectors. He emphasized that there is no alternative to the official institutions of the State of Palestine in the Gaza Strip, and work cannot be conducted in the sector in isolation from the political path and the unity of the system and the law.
The Minister of Justice provided the UN coordinator with a brief overview of the government efforts, and the comprehensive plan prepared by the Ministry of Justice to restore the justice system based on the rule of law and protecting rights for the Gaza Strip, noting that work is ongoing to implement the priorities of the plan in collaboration with the pillars of the justice sector alongside international developmental partners and donor countries, specifically UNDP.
He stressed that those who will contribute to implementing the developmental and strategic plans for the Gaza Strip, restoring life, and building Gaza's future will be the effective partnership between the private sector, government institutions, and civil society organizations in cooperation with UN bodies, that is, through the integration of national and international efforts.
For his part, Mr. Al-Aqbarov affirmed the UN's commitment to continue cooperation and coordination with the Palestinian government and to intensify its humanitarian and relief efforts in the occupied Palestinian territories.
