Russia vows to respond to Ukraine's attempt to attack "Putin"

SadaNews - Russia has vowed to respond to what it described as Ukraine's attempt to attack the residence of President Vladimir Putin using drones, according to the Russian news agency TASS, despite the denial from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of any such attempt.

TASS reported the statement from Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, asserting that there will be a response to this action.

For his part, President Volodymyr Zelensky denied that Ukraine had attempted to target the official residence of the Russian President using drones.

Zelensky stated in a social media post that Russia's goal is to negatively influence the peace talks Ukraine is conducting with President Donald Trump.

He added that the statements made by Russia are extremely dangerous, considering that their aim is to obstruct all the gains "we have achieved in our joint efforts with President Trump's team."

Zelensky pointed out that the Russian army had previously launched an attack on the Ukrainian Cabinet building in Kyiv, adding that Ukraine does not take steps that would undermine diplomacy, while Russia always engages in such actions.

Earlier on Monday, the Russian news agency quoted Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as saying that Ukraine attempted to target the official residence of President Putin in Novgorod region using 91 drones.

Lavrov noted that the attack did not result in any deaths, injuries, or damage, and that all drones were intercepted.

He clarified that Russia would not withdraw from negotiations regarding Ukraine due to the attack, but would reconsider its negotiation approach considering Kyiv's decisive shift toward state terrorism, as expressed by Lavrov.

He indicated that Russia would respond to the attack, adding that after the attempt to target President Putin's residence, the objectives and timing of the Russian response have been determined.

On November 23, the White House announced a revised draft peace plan following discussions between the U.S. and Ukrainian delegations regarding Trump's plan to end the war between Moscow and Kyiv, without disclosing details of the updated plan.

Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a military offensive against its neighbor Ukraine, conditioning its end on Kyiv's abandonment of joining Western military entities, which Kyiv considers "interference" in its affairs.
